Discovering it, as with many great discoveries, was more a merit of chance than of anything else. It was a decade ago, almost at the end of the 20th century. We had traveled with a friend to the neighboring town of Pinheira in Santa Catarina, where we arrived looking for alternatives to the seasonally saturated Florianópolis. Those were times when spending a summer on some beach in the capital of Santa Catarina was almost the same as staying in Argentina, hardly during those years you heard some Portuguese on the island of Santa Catarina. For a young traveler looking for surprises and international news, the Argentinean floripa of the late 90's was not the best option.
